OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — Oklahoma Democrats are preparing to petition to end Dany Williams's re-election campaign after allegations of improper conduct towards a House employee.
The Oklahoma Democratic Party (OKDEMS) plans to deliver petitions to the State Capitol at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28. OKDEMS said a candidate may withdraw from the General Election by filing a written notice before 5 p.m. on the Friday following the Runoff Primary Election.
OKDEMS is encouraging Oklahoma residents who believe Williams should resign to add their names to the petition at dropdanny.com.
“The people of Oklahoma deserve elected officials who are accountable to the public and willing to take responsibility for their actions,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Executive Director Lauren Craig. “We are calling on Danny Williams to file the paperwork to take his name off the November ballot on August 28th at the State Election Board and end his re-election campaign immediately. This is about accountability and the trust voters place in their elected representatives.”
The party said members will be available to answer questions about the petition and Blake Cummings, the democratic nominee, running to represent District 28.
