Letter | Not your parents' Republican Party – The Capital Times
Dear Editor: Democrat and Republican used to be two different visions of our democracy. No matter who won an election, there was the peaceful transfer of power. That is what separates a democracy from a dictatorship.
All that has changed since Trump has expelled any members of the Republican Party who do not bend a knee to him, and him alone. The old Republican values are long gone. It is now the Party of Trump.
Our democracy gives us the right to free speech and free and fair elections, not tampered with by the party in power, so we can choose our leaders.
We don’t want our democracy dismantled by a sore looser who attempted to overturn our 2020 election to seize power for himself, a revengeful dictator with an enemies hit list, bent on retribution, who wants to jail his political opponents and has freed those who break the law on his behalf — a dictator above the law who is also a convicted felon.
These should not be the values of the Republican Party.
