WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKRC) – Indiana residents hit hard by this month's historic storms and flooding will get some federal help.
President Trump approved a major disaster declaration for the state. Counties receiving assistance include Dearborn, Fayette, Franklin and Union counties.
The storm triggered emergency evacuations in some areas. Homes, businesses and vehicles were damaged. Many people living in the area of the Whitewater River told Local 12 they'd never seen flooding like that before.
Residents in the eligible counties may qualify for help with temporary housing, home repairs and other recovery costs.
People are encouraged to first contact their insurance company, then apply through FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by going online.
