Following a ruling from the Nebraska Supreme Court, which allowed the formation of two new political parties in the state, Secretary of State Bob Evnen issued certifications, establishing both the Nebraska Working Party and the America First Party.

Both parties can nominate a candidate for the November election.
In order to nominate a candidate, the parties must do the following:
The candidate filing and all other materials must be submitted by Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.

This means Nebraska voters can register with either political party starting on Wednesday.

In a statement following Wednesday's ruling, the America First Party said "Winning the right to compete was only the first step. Over the next few days, Nebraskans are going to start meeting the candidates willing to step forward, challenge the political establishment and offer something different."
Following the ruling, the Republican Party released the following statement:
"The Nebraska Republican Party is deeply disappointed in today's court ruling, which found in part that the Secretary of State does not have the general power to deny a new party's registration based on a name that creates ballot confusion. Ballot confusion isn't a technicality; it's a tool bad actors can use to mislead voters. When look-alike parties register to confuse Nebraskans at the ballot box, election officials should have the authority to stop it. Today's ruling limits that authority. Nebraska voters must stay vigilant this election season and watch for these kinds of political schemes on their ballots."
NDP also released a statement following the ruling
“Who is funding the Working People’s Party? If they’re as grassroots as they claim, come clean about who paid for petition gathering because grassroots efforts don’t hire multiple paid firms. And lying or hiding this information from Nebraskans is no way to start off asking for their votes. Every sign points to right-wing billionaire donors looking to play spoiler, because MAGA Republicans know they can’t win these races on their own merits, especially Pete Ricketts.”
